Měděnec Apartments
History of the building
In the picturesque setting of the Ore Mountains, in the village of Měděnec, stands a former mountain hotel known as Horský hotel u Tomáše, built in 1912. The building represents a distinctive example of early 20th-century mountain architecture, characterized by its mansard roof, articulated façade, and historic details typical of the Ore Mountains region. Once a popular retreat for visitors to the mountains, the hotel gradually lost its original prominence.
In the 1970s, a partial renovation extended the building’s lifespan, and in 1990 comprehensive project documentation for a full reconstruction was prepared. However, this plan was never implemented. Since then, the building has remained vacant, without maintenance, and has steadily deteriorated.
Our contribution
Immediately after acquiring a stake in the property, an architectural study was prepared proposing its transformation into mountain apartments complemented by shared wellness facilities. This was followed by the preparation of initial-stage project documentation and the successful acquisition of a building permit. The project has the potential to become a key element in the revitalization of Měděnec’s town center and to contribute to the development of tourism in the Ore Mountains.
Our goal is to restore the building’s original charm and historical value while sensitively adapting it to the expectations of modern hospitality and contemporary tourism.
