History of the building
Roubenka U Babi is a historically valuable Baroque timber farmhouse estimated to be 200–250 years old. It is located in the Aš region within the Cheb district. The farmhouse had been deteriorating since the 1950s and, according to historical accounts, was even designated for demolition at one point. In later years, the property was used for keeping small farm animals.
Our contribution
The original farmhouse was renovated and converted into a guesthouse in 2015. The former stable was transformed into three independent, authentic guest rooms and a shared common area. The former barn was converted into a private wellness area featuring a sauna and hot tub.Throughout the reconstruction, our aim was to restore this unique example of rural folk architecture in the most authentic way possible. For instance, we used hand-hewn beams assembled using traditional dovetail joinery techniques. The atmosphere is further enhanced by a carefully selected palette of period-appropriate colors. While respecting the historic character of the building, we also ensured maximum comfort for today’s guests.
